Dangerous Jobs - The Armed Forces And Police
The police, the army, security personnel, guards, and the prisons can be very hostile places. Every year employees of these industries are getting hurt and killed for their job.
The police are out there on the streets fighting crime and criminals where they are subject to all sorts of abuse and violence. Then there are the police who have particular units to work like the drugs section, dogs, road traffic, armed police, and even the helicopter team. They all have their dangers and require training that is ongoing and specialises to the section.
After criminals have been caught they have to go to prison and this is where they are policed by the prison staff. The nature of the prisoners determined the level of security and that determines the level of danger to the staff. Prison guards have been caught up in small disagreements between residents to full blown riots resulting in the occasional bruised eye to fatal accidents.
The prison system can be a harsh environment but the prison staff are fully trained and have many rules and regulations in place to keep everyone safe including the inmates.
Security staff can get a rough ride too. They mind doors in shops and clubs, they walk around building sites at night and generally look after any place their asked to. This can be a dangerous place to be depending on what they are guarding. Take a shop for example; a shop thief does not want to get caught so if they do, they may put up a fight. They might fight with weapons if it’s a bank they want to steel from.
Clubs and pups have testosterone fuelled men fighting and some times, the women are fighting too. Security officers are all over the place and they are risking themselves to protect work places and the staff within them.
The other job that takes on a role of policing a place would be the army. Any of the armed forces are faced with other forces pointing guns at them so as you can imagine, the risks of death are very high.
Years of training are needed to perfect the art of fighting and surviving in some of the horrific circumstances that soldiers have to deal with.
Every time you put the news on, stories about another solider dead and this town lost hundreds and that town lost thousands and so on. If you consider how many people have died in the last 10 years, imagine how many have died over the past centuries of which war has took place. And then you could include those who became severely injured. The numbers are massive so in the case of people policing the world in one job or another, it would seem that soldiers fighting wars are the biggest mark.
Just think, for all the soldiers lost in wars, there are thousands of innocent people who get caught up in it all.
