Every Day People Phone In Sick To Work

Every day people phone in sick to work because they have injured themselves before even getting out of the bed-room. Getting up to the alarm with little time to spare can have the affect of still being half a sleep.

Not being able to co-ordinate ones self will alternately make standing up a troublesome act. Putting one leg into your trousers while standing on the other is also a common way of getting hurt before leaving the room.

This doesn’t happen every day but it does happen from time to time. We are all subject to such accidents first thing in the morning. Not giving the brain enough time to connect with the body is the reason for this in most cases.

While we sleep the brain has to make us breath and keep our heart beating. The only rest it can have is to switch off to the rest of the body. This is why when you are woken in an instant by a bad dream or a loud bang in the night, you can’t move or make a noise for perhaps only a second or too but even still, you are paralyzed for that short time. The brain has not had time to re-engage with the body.

Adrenaline kicks in almost instantly and you can once again move. This is the freeze, fight and flight instinct, however, when we wake naturally its not as severe so the brain is talking to the body but with out the sudden wake up call of adrenaline and therefore the communication between brain and body is sluggish.

Falling over in the bedroom or falling down the stairs are the most common injuries inflicted on us by, well, us really but there have been other reports too. People have claimed to have scolded themselves while making the morning coffee, burning themselves with the iron or the hair streightener’s and tripping over the front door step while on their way out.

These accidents are not usually that serious of life threatening but there have been cases of more than a bruise or a cut.

A sever bump to the head leading to concussion that may not do its damage until the injured party has left for work or even not until they have arrived. Limbs have been broken and in some cases the back has been the major point of impact with stairs.

Either way, people all over the world will need anything from a morning to a day, a week to several months and in the worst cases permanent time of work due to getting hurt before even leaving the house. Taking a shower can be a treacherous event with all that steam, water, soap and sleepy eyed feeling. There have even been fatalities due to injuries in the home before even getting all the way out of bed.

So, make sure you are fully awake before getting out of bed. If the alarm is set ten minuets earlier than it needs to be this will give you time to have a stretch and take in some deep breaths before sitting up and attempting to walk.

Have a good day.
