Unexpected Animal Attacks At Work

The work place is some what hazardous at the best of times with machinery and chemicals and of course other people but what about the things we don’t always know are there.

Mice, rats, cockroaches, fleas, and many other little critters may be causing accidents at work and getting away with it for some time before they are stopped. The first image that springs to mind is the office junior standing on a chair screaming for help with sheer fright. Not a good place to be if the chair is a swivel chair or just unstable.

People have been known to do this, fall and seriously injure themselves resulting in time of work. Rats will also have this affect on many members of the human species. Bee’s and wasps have also caused chaos in the work place when they have been disturb by a member of staff who nothing about them living in the building and then, by accident, really annoyed them to the point where they come out fighting with their stings to defend their nest resulting in a mad panic of the escaping work force.

The humble cockroach is another culprit that can cause harm in the work place. It’s not just by scaring the employees that make these little creatures and animals a threat. They carry diseases that will cause staff to become ill.

If you come into contact with rat faeces or its urine you can contract 1 of more than a hundred bacteria. The result can make you feel sick and light headed. If you on the top of a stair case at the time the fever hits, you could fall and become seriously injured.

The infections themselves are usually treatable with no long lasting side affects but if you do have personal contact, you are at risk of becoming ill and needing time from work to recover. The same applies to all vermin and pest that may choose to inhibit the work place.

Having an infestation of ant of the above can be considered an accident but it’s the damage they do that really causes accidents.

There have been cases of fire in buildings where people have been injured and even died. When the cause of the fire has been inspected, wires have been found and the evidence shows that they have bee chewed by rats and mice. This will of coarse create shorts in the electrical system that then lead to electrical fires.

If the work place is not protected from these animals and insects, they can create situations where people die.

The work place should be a safe environment and kept clean at all times. If and infestation does find away in, it must be dealt with as soon as is possible too so that the entire work force and visitors to the work place can be protected against the chemical warfare and destruction that these little animals throw at us in their defence.
