What Job Has Fighting As An Injury Risk
As we know, fighting at work is not prohibited but it does happen and people do get hurt and suffer injuries.
But what if the fight is no accident?
What if your job is to fight?
If you live in the world of wrestling or boxing then it’s your job to fight. If you throw a fatal blow to you opponent you would say it was an accident because your intention was to win a fight without causing death. Proving this to be an accident is tough but also often the case.
On the other hand you might work in a place where you have to stop fights from breaking out or become involved in order to stop a fight that has already begun. The referee in a boxing mach is close to flying fist and at risk of being punched accidentally. A prison guard for example could find themselves in situations where fights break out and they have to stop it.
They may need to fight back in order to protect themselves, self defence, this could cause injury to either party. The police and the armed forces have to take these facts on board every day because of the hostile people they come into contact with during their working hours.
Hospital staff and, well, all medical staff might find themselves caught up in conflict between others and going about their duty could leave them with an injury obtained while at work.
It’s not always about being hit, punched, thrown to the floor or even stabbed. When someone is in the middle of a fight and trying to break it up or see to the already injured party, they may get spat on or there could be a transferee of blood that in it’s self could hold all sorts of disease and bacteria.
Catching an infection this way could be fatal long term with diseases such as Aids and Hepatitis C. this would be considered an accident at work but is it still considered an injury at work?
There are many people who know from the off that the work place they choose to work in could come with the once in a blue moon to the every day violence as part of the job.
It doesn’t matter if you a soldier on the front line or a cashier at a garage, you may at some point be involved in a incident where you could become injured at work and fall prey to an accident due to violence and abuse from another human being.
Take care while at work and always follow the rules.
